Who's Throwing Out First Pitch, Singing National Anthem For Astros-Rangers ALCS?
HOUSTON — National Anthem and first pitch honors are taken very seriously in baseball and the stakes are raised when you're deep in the postseason.
The Houston Astros and Texas Rangers begin their best-of-seven American League Championship Series at 7:15 p.m. Sunday at Minute Maid Park and the Texas-themed stars will be out in force.
Houston Police officer K’Yuana Nelson will sing the National Anthem for Game 1 and Astros Hall of Famer Craig Biggio will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
The "Play Ball" call will be made by Houston native entertainer, rapper Paul Wall and comedian Mo Amer.
Country music singer-songwriter Clay Walker will sing the anthem for Game 2 at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Minute Maid Park. Astros great Jason Castro will throw out the first pitch. "Play Ball" will be made by Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud and defensive end Will Anderson.
Who will the Rangers call upon for these special duties when the ALCS moves to Globe Life Field in Arlington? Game 3 is scheduled for 7:03 p.m. Wednesday and Game 4 is scheduled for 7:03 p.m. Thursday.
My money is on Hall of Famer and Texas legend Nolan Ryan throwing out the first pitch in Arlington. Who else should do the honor? Who should sing the anthems in Arlington?
Guess we'll find out that and more in a couple of days when the first Lone Star postseason series shifts to North Texas.
