Justin Verlander, Houston Astros Drop Torrent of F-Bombs During Live TV ALDS Celebration
The Houston Astros, led by Justin Verlander, dropped a torrent of expletives, including multiple f-bombs during their ALDS-clinching celebration live on the air during FS1's telecast.
Astros manager Dusty Baker handed the speech over to Verlander, who helped lead the Astros to their third World Series championship a year ago, before the team popped champagne bottles to celebrate moving on to the ALCS for an American League-record seventh consecutive time.
The Astros will host the AL West rival Texas Rangers for Games Nos. 1 and 2 on Sunday and Monday night. The series moves to Globe Life Field in Arlington for Game 3 on Oct. 18.
Although FS1 is a cable station, the Federal Communication Commission frowns on telecasts airing coarse language. And Verlander couldn't have chosen the a bigger expletive.
During his speech to the club, Verlander used the f-word seven times.
"Boys, this is one of those seasons nothing went our f****** way early. We battled through injuries. We f****** grinded. I wasn't even f****** here," Verlander says to the team, with a nod to his trade-deadline return to the Astros on Aug. 1. "I'm happy to back. The seventh f****** time. Seventh f****** time. Alright, don't take that for granted. On seven, everybody pop these motherf******."
"On seven, everybody pop these mother f*****," Verlander said before the team exploded in a sea of champagne and beer.
