Rangers Injury Updates

RHP Brett Martin (left shoulder surgery on Jan. 18) is on the 60-day Injured List (Feb. 17) and is expected to miss most of 2023.

RHP Jacob deGrom reported left side tightness on Feb. 15 when he arrived at spring training. He took off four days throwing before a mound session on Thursday, throwing just over 20 pitches, all of which were fastballs.

C Mitch Garver (right forearm flexor tendon repair surgery on July 11, 2022) entered camp with few limitations. He has not caught since May 2022, but is expected to see action behind the plate on Monday at Cincinnati.

RHP Dane Dunning (right hip surgery on Sept. 26, 2022) threw a live batting practice on Tuesday and pitched Saturday against Kansas City.

RHP Joe Barlow (right wrist surgery on Nov. 4, 2022) threw a live batting practice on Thursday and made his spring debut on Saturday against Kansas City.

RHP Yerry Rodríguez (right Achilles) has been limited early in camp.

LHP Avery Weems (Tommy John left elbow surgery on Feb. 15) was originally expected to be a non-roster invitee for the first time in his career before under-going season-ending procedure in February.

Game Thread

The Rangers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Marcus Semien led off the game with a single. Corey Seager followed with a single, which moved Semien to third. Seager moved to second on an error. Nathaniel Lowe's sacrifice fly gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead. Robbie Grossman then singled home Seager with two out. Josh Jung struck out swinging to end the inning. Rangers 2, Guardians 0

The Rangers added three more runs in the top of the second. Josh Frazier and Leody Taveras singled and Seager hit a two-out, three-run home run off Cleveland's Zach Plesac. Rangers 5, Guardians 0

The Rangers added two more runs in the top of the third. Robbie Grossman walked, followed by a Josh Jung double. The pair scored on a Taveras single. Rangers 7, Guardians 0

In the fourth, the Rangers scored another run. The Rangers loaded the bases and Jung hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Lowe. Rangers 8, Guardians 0

The Guardians finally got on the board in the bottom of the seventh. Angel Martinez hit a two-run home run and Micah Pries hit a solo home run. Rangers 8, Guardians 3

The game ended with the Rangers winning, 13-4.
