The Texas Rangers are in contention to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016. On Tuesday, Major League Baseball released the framework for the 2023 postseason schedule.

It gives Rangers fans the first indication of how their postseason could play out, assuming the Rangers make it.

The Wild Card playoffs, a best-of-three series, will start on Oct. 3, two days after the end of the regular season.

The Rangers are hoping they won’t have to deal with that round. If the Rangers win the American League West and finish with one of the two best records in the American League, they’ll get a Wild-Card bye and won’t have to play until the Division Series, which starts on Oct. 7.

The Rangers would end up in the Wild-Card round if they win the AL West with the third-best overall record or if the fall out of the AL West lead but finish with one of the top three records among non-division winners.

If they’re a No. 3 or No. 4 seed, the Rangers will host all three games of the best-of-three series.

The Wild Card playoffs are set for Oct. 3-5. The Division series are set for Oct. 7-13. The ALCS are set for Oct. 15-23.

The World Series, should the Rangers advance that far, would start on Oct. 27 and end no later than Nov. 4.
