Texas Rangers Playoff Star Adolis Garcia Undergoing Tests After Game 3 Injury
PHOENIX — Texas Rangers right fielder Adolis García left in the eighth inning of Game 3 of the World Series after he appeared to hurt his back during a swing.
After the game, manager Bruce Bochy characterized it as left side tightness and that the Rangers were being optimistic about his availability for Game 4 on Tuesday.
“Doli will get some diagnostics done,” Bochy said after the 3-1 win. “(We’ll) see where he’s at.”
It was reported that García would undergo an MRI.
Garcia was a big part of the Game 3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, even though he went 0-for-3 with a walk.
His throw from right field to home plate in the second inning caught Diamondbacks baserunner Christian Walker at the plate as Arizona was trying to score its first run of the game. The out, coupled with a great fielding play by third baseman Josh Jung later, ended the inning and precipitated the Rangers’ three-run outburst in the third.
It was just another example, to Bochy, of García’s value to the Rangers, who lead the series 2-1.
“He’s a complete player,” Bochy said. “Speed, arm, can hit. The guy can do it all. We saw it (in the second inning). And he’s accurate, too, and he loves to throw. He loves to be challenged.”
García has 39 outfield assists since the start of the 2021 season.
García was the American League Championship Series MVP and hit the walk-off home run to win Game 1 of the World Series on Friday.
