The Texas Rangers' Triple-A affiliate Round Rock Express was the only one of their five affiliates to win on Saturday. 

The Express were in Tacoma for Triple-A Pacific Coast League action. The Double-A Frisco RoughRiders continued their series with Amarillo in the Texas League.

High Class-A Hickory faced Greenville in South Atlantic League South action, while Class-A Down East faced Charleston in Carolina League North action. And, the ACL Rangers continued play in Arizona.

Texas Rangers Minor League Results

Here are the Texas Rangers' minor-league results for Saturday, July 16.

Triple-A Round Rock

2B Diosbel Arias (1-for-5, RBI) and CF Bubba Thompson (0-for-5, RBI) each drove in runs during the 12th inning to give Round Rock (10-4, 54-34, T1st) a 5-3 victory over Tacoma. After RHP Cole Winn (0.2 IP, 3 H, 3 R-ER, 1 BB, 1 SO) allowed a trio of runs in the 2nd frame, 1B Blaine Crim (1-for-3, BB, HR, 2 RBI) homered to cut the lead to one. RF J.P. Martinez (1-for-5, 2B, RBI) notched an RBI double in the 9th inning to knot the contest at three, and is 13-for-37 (.351) with 8 XBH and 12 RBI in July. RHP Chase Lee (2.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R-ER, 0 BB, 4 SO) and RHP Alex Speas (W, 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R-ER, 1 BB, 4 SO) combined for 8 of the team’s season-high 20 strikeouts. It marked Speas’ first Triple-A victory after retiring 6 of 7 BF.

Double-A Frisco

Frisco (7-7, 38-44, 3rd, 2.0 GB) lost to Amarillo, 11-4. 2B Thomas Saggese (1-for-4, RBI) extended his hit streak to 11 games with an RBI single in the 1st inning to put Frisco up 1-0. The Sod Poodles scored 9 unanswered runs across the next three frames. 1B Josh Hatcher (2-for-4, RBI) and C Liam Hicks (1-for-4, 2 RBI) each recorded RBI singles in the 6th inning as the ‘Riders dropped to 6 games below .500. DH Aaron Zavala (1-for-3) was the only other RoughRider to record a hit. RHP Nick Krauth (L, 3.0 IP, 7 H, 9 R, 8 ER, 6 SO) gave up 4 home runs and was shelled for 8 ER, the most he’s given up this season. RHP Matt Bush (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R-ER, 1 BB, 1 SO) made his Texas debut with a scoreless 7th inning.

High Class-A Hickory

Hickory (13-3, 40-37, 1st, +2.5 GA) was shut out, 5-0, against Greenville. RF Yosy Galan (1-for-2) reached in the 3rd inning via a single. SS Keyber Rodriguez (1-for-3) slapped a two-out single for the other Crawdads hit. RHP Jose Corniell (L, 4.1 IP, 7 H, 5 R-ER, 3 BB, 3 SO) shouldered the loss in just his 4th start with Hickory (8 ER/17.1 IP), 6 BB, 18 SO). appearing in his first game since 7/4, RHP Andy Rodriguez (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R-ER, 1 BB, 3 SO) threw a pair of scoreless innings.

Class-A Down East

RHP Brock Porter (4.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R-ER, 5 BB, 4 SO) allowed a lone run across 4.1 innings of work, but the Woodies (9-8, 46-32, T1st, -- GB) lost, 11-2, to Charleston. Despite only throwing 32 of 68 pitches (47.1%) for strikes and walking 5 batters, Porter battled back to keep Down East close. 2B Danyer Cueva (1-for-4, RBI) got Down East on the board with an RBI single before the RiverDogs rallied for 11 unanswered runs. LF JoJo Blackmon (1-for-3, RBI) recorded the Woodies’ other RBI with a single. SS Cam Cauley (2-for-4, 3B) and 1B Konner Piotto (2-for-3, 2B) each finished with a pair of hits and combined for both of Down East’s XBH.

ACL Rangers

The ACL Rangers (12-16, 5th, 6.5 GB) surrendered 8 runs in the final two innings after leading 7-1 to fall to the ACL Giants Black, 10-8. SS Sebastian Walcott (2-for-5) finished with a pair of hits as the 17-year-old is now 21-for-56 (.375) with 10 XBH and 11 RBI this season. 3B Echedry Vargas (1-for-1, 3 BB, 2B) reached in all 4 PA while DH Wady Mendez (1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) added a 2-R double in the 4-run opening frame. RF Marcos Torres (1-for-4, BB, HR, RBI) swatted his 4th homer this season and his 20 RBI lead the Rangers. RHP Zak Kent (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R-ER, 1 BB, 4 SO) made his first rehab app. and struck out 4 of 7 BF (57.1%) in the start. RHP Dianye Florentino (L, 0.2 IP, 3 H, 3 R-ER, 3BB, 1 SO) was tabbed with the loss after surrendering a trio of runs.
