Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager finally broke his bat during the series against the New York Mets. So, Seager grabbed another one and hit a home run on Wednesday night.

In doing so, he added his name to the Rangers’ record book yet again.

Seager’s home run in the fourth inning against the Mets was his 25th of the season. It marked the third time in his career that he’s hit at least 25 home runs, doing so in 2016 with the Los Angeles Dodgers and last season with the Rangers.

With this being the first time Seager has hit at least 25 home runs in back-to-back seasons, he also joined a select group of Rangers that have hit at least 25 home runs in each of their first two seasons with the franchise, per the team’s public relations.

Seager is the first Rangers player to do it since Adrián Beltré did it with 32 homers in 2011 and 36 in 2012.

Before Beltré, Alfonso Soriano pulled off the feat with 28 in 2004 and 36 the following year. He overlapped with Mark Teixeira, who hit 26 in 2003 and 38 in 2004.

Alex Rodriguez is the only Rangers player to hit at least 50 home runs in each of his first two seasons. He had 52 in 2001 and 57 a year later.

Pete Incaviglia was the first Rangers player to pull off the feat, as he hit 30 long balls in his rookie season of 1986 and followed that with 27 in 1987.

Seager also wrapped up August with 10 home runs. In doing so he hit the most home runs in any month of his career and became the first Rangers player with 10 or more home runs in a month since Joey Gallo in June of 2021.

That was just before Gallo was traded to the New York Yankees. He will visit Globe Life Field this weekend when the Minnesota Twins come to town starting Friday.

Seager’s numbers have been some of the best in baseball, in spite of missing roughly six weeks this season due to a hamstring injury and a sprained thumb.
