World Series Champion Texas Rangers Wearing Gold-Trimmed Uniforms On Opening Day
Gold is headed to Arlington this spring.
And not just in the World Series championship rings the players and organization will receive.
Gold will also be on the Texas Rangers uniforms to begin the 2024 season.
The Rangers will don gold-trimmed jerseys on Opening Day, March 28, against the Chicago Cubs to celebrate their World Series win over the Arizona Diamondbacks last fall. The hats are also expected to have a gold trim around the brim and "T" logo.
The design has not been officially released, but according to Uni-Watch, the uniforms are expected to be white like other champion winners from the past. A design could be revealed soon as the team prepares to arrive in Surprise, Ariz., for spring training. Pitchers and catchers report by Feb. 14 and position players report by Feb. 19.
Texas is coming off its first World Series title after beating the D-Backs in five games.
Since 2016, every reigning champion has worn white jerseys with a gold trim to open the season. The reveal date for those special jerseys varied, depending on the season's start date. The only exception was for the Washington Nationals, who unveiled their uniforms in July amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Rangers released their promotional schedule earlier this month, which included multiple fan giveaways paying tribute to the club's first title, including postseason-related bobbleheads and player jerseys. But the team has likely kept some surprises under wraps, such as the gold-trimmed alternate jerseys, which would figure to be a big seller in the Rangers' team store.
Texas has made several minor moves this winter, including inking deals with starter Tyler Mahle and relievers Kirby Yates and David Robertson. The Rangers re-signed outfielder Travis Jankowski on a one-year deal earlier this month. Jankowski, 32, filled in for an injured Adolis Garcia in Games 4 and 5 of the World Series, and was essential in securing the Commissioner's Trophy.
