Texas Rangers Announce Promotions, Add Former Red Sox Pitching Coach As Strategy Director
The Texas Rangers announced multiple promotions in their front office and hired former Boston Red Sox pitching coach Dave Bush as the director of pitching strategy.
The complete list of moves, according to a club release:
- Jim Cochrane was promoted to Chief Revenue Officer
- Dan Hessling was promoted to Senior Vice President, Ticket Sales
- Jeff Miller promoted to Senior Vice President, Human Resources
- Dave Bush was hired as Director, Pitching Strategy
- Napoleon Pichardo was promoted to Vice President, Performance
- Mike Parnell was promoted to Senior Director, Pro Scouting
- Logan Frandsen was promoted to Director of Strength & Conditioning
- Wade Lamont was promoted to Assistant Major League Strength & Conditioning Coach
Bush will be involved "in all aspects of the organization’s pitching operation with an emphasis on the Major League club," according to a release. Bush served as the Red Sox pitching coach from 2020-23. Before that, he served as the Red Sox's pitching development analyst from 2016-18 and minor league pitching coordinator in 2019. Bush pitched in 211 games, including 187 starts during a nine-year MLB career. He had stints with the Blue Jays and Brewers and pitched in 17 games with the Rangers in 2011. Bush played for Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux at Milwaukee (2006-08) and Texas.
Cochrane has been with the organization for 26 years. He's responsible for the club’s business revenue areas for partnerships, ticket and premium sales and service, analytics, and broadcasting. He has overseen sponsorship sales and services since 2014. The Bedford native played a major role in the negotiation of the ballpark naming rights agreement and the extension with Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company.
Pichardo will have day-to-day oversight of the Major League team's sports medicine in this newly expanded position. Pichardo, who is in his 20th season with the club, will oversee performance throughout the entire player development system.
Parnel, who is in his 10th season with the club, including nine years in the pro scouting department, has served as the department's director the previous two seasons. He joined the club as an intern in 2014.
Frandsen is in his seventh season in the organization, including as the minor league strength coach and assistant director of performance the past two seasons.
Lamont joins the Major League staff after spending the previous two seasons as Triple-A Round Rock's strength coach. He has worked at four different levels of the Rangers' player development system over the past 11 seasons.
Hessling led a Rangers ticket sales team that produced the club's highest home attendance since 2016. He has been with the organization since 2012.
Miller has led the organization's Human Resources Department the past four years.
