Texas Rangers Top Prospect Wyatt Langford Keeps Streaking in Minors

Texas Rangers outfield prospect Wyatt Langford is coming off a terrific week for the High-A Hickory Crawdads.

Texas Rangers first-round pick Wyatt Langford continues to put up great numbers for High Class-A Hickory, which is preparing for a week-long series at Greensboro beginning Tuesday.

Langford enters the series on a six-game hitting streak. He went 10-for-21 (4.76) with two doubles, a home run and two RBI last week against Greenville.

Langford has now played 20 games with the Crawdads and his numbers continue to impress. He has slashed .314/.455/.586/1.041 with Hickory, with six doubles, two triples, three home runs and 11 RBI. He’s drawn 17 walks and 15 strikeouts in 70 official at-bats. He’s also stolen six bases.

Before Hickory, he spent three games with the Arizona Complex League Rangers where he slashed .385/.429/.846/1.275 with a home run and four RBI.

For his first 23 professional games, Langford has slashed .325/.451/.627/1.078 with nine doubles, two triples, four home runs, 15 RBI, 18 walks and 18 strikeouts.

When MLB Pipeline re-ranked all minor league prospects, Langford moved into the Top 100 at No. 13 and No. 2 in the Rangers’ Top 30. He is projected as the No. 6 outfield prospect in baseball.

The Rangers selected Langford No. 4 overall in July’s MLB Draft out of the University of Florida. He was a standout in his final two seasons with the Gators.

As a sophomore at Florida, he batted .356/.447/.719 while matching the school record with 26 home runs. He slashed .373/.498/.784 with 21 home runs and 56 extra-base hits as a junior.
