Texas Rangers Rookie Evan Carter 'Spoiled' by World Series Championship

Despite being the Majors for less than a month, Evan Carter played a key role in the Texas Rangers winning the first World Series title in franchise history.

Can’t really blame Evan Carter for feeling spoiled, no matter how hard he worked for it.

The Texas Rangers rookie –he’ll still be a rookie next season – not only won World Series title despite being in the Majors for less than month during the regular season, Carter played a lead role.

Size him up for that championship ring.

“I feel spoiled. This is definitely something that I’m not going to take for granted,” Carter said. “But so early in my career, it just kind of sets the bar really high. And it’s definitely something that you want to get back to as many times as possible.”

Texas Rangers rookie Evan Carter reached base in all 17 games during the World Series run.

Carter made his presence felt after being called up Sept. 8 to fill in for an injured Adolis García. That continued during the postseason, as Carter reached base in all 17 games, was moved up in the lineup by manager Bruce Bochy and played flawlessly, and often spectacularly, in left field.

Carter had only 62 at-bats in the regular season and nearly matched that with 60 in the playoffs. That lack of experience hardly mattered. He hit .300 in the postseason, with nine runs scored and nine doubles.

It all helped lead to a world title and victory parade. Carter can hardly believe what’s happened in less than two months with the Rangers. He began the year with the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders and spent about a week with the Triple-A Round Rock Express.

“It’s one of those things that you can never really picture what it’s going to be like,” Carter said. “I don’t really know what to expect. And then when it does happen to you, it’s an unbelievable feeling.

“I mean, it blows all expectations, if I had any, out of the water. It’s an unbelievable experience that few people get to do and you’re always going to be able to hold on to that.”

And hopefully add to it. Carter, 21, figures to have an everyday role with the Rangers for years to come.

“I don’t know if you can get much better than where we’re at right now,” Carter said. “I mean, we’ve won our last game of the year, but that’s definitely the goal for every single year from now forwards is to win the last game of the year.”
