PHOENIX — The Texas Rangers took 52 years to bring a World Series championship to Arlington, but perhaps there was a secret code to the 2023 club's success.

The Rangers were forced to take the Wild Card route despite finishing tied with the Houston Astros atop the American League West with 90-72 records. The rival Astros got to claim another AL West title by winning the head-to-head series with the Rangers.

The road didn't faze the Rangers. They won an MLB record 11 road games in the postseason en route to the title — a perfect 11-0. And the road they had to take to the title offers a secret code to their success. Longtime Rangers fan and Fort Worth resident Nancy Calaway posted the oddity on social media.

The Rangers beat the Tampa Bay Rays twice in St. Petersburgh, Fla. in the Wild Card round. Then they swept the Baltimore Orioles 3-0, including the first two games at Camden Yards. That set up their Lone Star showdown in the ALCS with the Astros, who of course, had home-field advantage. No problem. The Rangers won all four games at Minute Maid Park, stunning the defending champions and their fans.

Lastly, they matched up against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 119th World Series. Texas had home-field advantage, but the Rangers didn't rely on that. They split the first two games at Globe Life Field before sweeping the final three games at Chase Field in Phoenix, including Wednesday's Game 5 5-0 clincher.

"That spells ROAD," Calaway posted to X just after 5 a.m. Thursday.

So what's the secret code revealed in the Rangers' road to the 2023 title?

They beat the Rays, 2-0.

They beat the Orioles, 3-0.

They beat the Astros, 4-3

They beat the Diamondbacks, 4-1.

What does that spell? R-O-A-D.

It was in the stars for Texas this year. And on the road.
