Texas Rangers Set Pitching Rotation for New York Mets

The Texas Rangers lined up their three starters against the New York Mets to end a three-city road trip.

The Texas Rangers have set their pitching probables for their three-game series with the New York Mets, which starts on Monday.

Jon Gray (8-7, 3.76) is slated to start for the Rangers on Monday. He took the loss in his last start against Arizona on Tuesday, going just 4 2/3 innings and allowing seven hits and five earned runs. He struck out five and walked three. In his last seven starts Gray is 2-2 with a 4.89 ERA, with 36 strikeouts and 14 walks in 38 2/3 innings.

Tylor Megill (7-7, 5.54) is going for the Mets. In his last start against Atlanta on Tuesday, he took the loss, going just 4 2/3 innings and giving up eight hits and three earned runs. He walked two and struck out five. In his last seven games he has gone 2-4 with a 7.67 ERA, with 26 strikeouts and 14 walks in 31 2/3 innings.

Texas left-hander Andrew Heaney (9-6, 4.34) gets the second game Tuesday. He struggled to get through five innings his last outing against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday, going just 4 1/3 innings and giving up seven hits and three earned runs. He struck out five and walked one. Still, in his last seven starts he is 3-0 with a 4.06 ERA with 30 strikeouts and 12 walks in 31 innings.

New York counters with José Quintana (1-5, 3.73). In his last start against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, he threw 5 1/3 innings and gave up nine hits and five earned runs. He struck out five and walked three. He is making just his eighth start this season for the Mets.

Dane Dunning (9-6, 3.36) takes his runs for Texas in the series finale Wednesday. He took the loss in his last start against Minnesota on Friday. He pitched just four innings, giving up five hits, four earned runs and six walks. He also struck out six. In his last seven games he is 1-4 with a 4.78 ERA, with 44 strikeouts and 16 walks in 37 2/3 innings pitched.

The Mets have not set their starter for Wednesday. If the Mets stay with a five-man rotation, the starter would be Kodai Senga (10-7, 3.17).

Monday’s and Tuesday’s games are set for 6:10 p.m. CT, with Wednesday’s finale at 5:40 p.m.

The Rangers (73-57) have lost nine of their last 10 games, and are off Thursday before beginning a homestand Friday with a three-game series against the Twins.
