Jonesing For Televised Texas Rangers Action? Club Announces TXA 21 Airing 4 Spring Training Games

The four games carried live by TXA 21 bring the total to at least eight spring training games to air live in DFW, including seven previously scheduled games airing on Bally Sports Southwest.

SURPRISE, Ariz. — A daily question from Texas Rangers fans this spring has had a similar refrain.

It goes something like this: When, where, and how can I watch the Rangers' spring training games on television?

A local station has stepped in to help fill the void.

The Rangers announced that TXA 21 will broadcast four spring training games beginning with the Rangers' 3:05 p.m. (CT) March 12 game against the Cleveland Guardians.

The others scheduled to air live to more than three million households in DFW include 3:05 p.m. March 19 against the Oakland A's, 3:05 p.m. March 22 against the Colorado Rockies, and the spring training finale at 1:05 p.m. March 26 against the Boston Red Sox at Globe Life Field in Arlington.

These four games are in addition to the seven spring training games Bally Sports Southwest is scheduled to broadcast, which include (all times central) 8 p.m. March 14 against the Reds, 3 p.m. March 16 against the Diamondbacks, 3 p.m. March 18 against the Mariners, and 7 p.m. March 25 against the Red Sox at Globe Life Field. The club recently added three more BSSW spring telecasts, which will utilize the opposing team's TV crew.

“We are thrilled to partner with TXA 21 to bring Texas Rangers baseball into millions of households in the Metroplex and surrounding areas,” Rangers Chief Revenue Officer Jim Cochrane said in a release. “Giving Rangers fans the opportunity to watch their team play when they can’t do it in person remains a top priority for our organization.”

The Rangers Bally Sports Southwest television team, headed by play-by-play man Dave Raymond, along with Jared Sandler, David Murphy, and Dave Valle, will be in the booth for the games. KTVT CBS Texas sports anchor Bill Jones will serve as an on-field reporter for each of the four games.

TXA, which is owned by KTVT/Ch. 11, a CBS affiliate, previously carried Rangers spring training games from 2010 to 2020.
