Evan Carter and Wyatt Langford are the top two prospects for the Texas Rangers in MLB Pipeline’s new Top 30 prospects entering the 2024 season.

The question is, how much longer will the pair be considered prospects?

Carter was the Rangers’ No. 1 prospect throughout 2023 and earned a call-up with the Rangers in September after outfielder Adolis García injured his knee. Carter played well enough to remain with the team and played a pivotal role in their run to the World Series title.

But he didn’t play quite enough to graduate from the prospect rankings. Assuming that Carter makes the Opening Day roster, which seems all but certain, he’ll probably graduate within the first week or two of the season.

As for Langford, he is wowing his new teammates and Rangers coaches alike with his torrid spring, fresh off his meteoric rise in 2023, in which he went from the No. 4 overall pick to Triple-A Round Rock in three months.

Langford still has to make the roster, but if he does and gets regular playing time, he could graduate in a month or two.

A prospect graduates when they’ve accumulated 45 days of MLB service in the regular season.

Shortstop Sebastian Walcott, who was the Rangers’ top international signee in 2023, is ranked No. 3 after he reached High-A Hickory in his first season in the Rangers’ system. Pitcher Brock Porter, who pitched all of last season at Class-A Down East, is No. 4. Justin Foscue, an infielder who is in Rangers Major League camp fighting for a spot on the 26-man roster, is No. 5.

Pitcher Kumar Rocker, who is still recovering from Tommy John surgery, is No. 6. Outfielder Anthony Gutierrez, pitcher Jack Leiter, pitcher Jose Corniell, and pitcher Owen White round out the top 10.

The prospects ranked Nos. 11-20 include outfielder Dustin Harris, first baseman Abimelec Ortiz, infielder Cameron Cauley, outfielder Paulino Santana, outfielder Yeison Morrobel, pitcher Emiliano Teodo, infielder Echedry Vargas, pitcher Josh Stephan, pitcher Aidan Curry and pitcher Mitch Bratt.

The prospects ranked Nos. 21-30 include outfielder Aaron Zavala, pitcher Antoine Kelly, pitcher Marc Church, outfielder Braylin Morel, outfielder Marcos Torres, third baseman Gleider Figuereo, pitcher Joseph Montalvo, pitcher Dane Acker, pitcher Izack Tiger and Jesus Lopez.
