World Series Schedule: Texas Rangers Open Fall Classic Friday at Globe Life Field, Broadcast Info
The World Series is coming to Arlington starting Friday.
The Texas Rangers secured their spot in the Fall Classic by pounding the rival Houston Astros in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series on Monday night. The Rangers won 11-4 at Minute Maid Park to win the series 4-3, with all four wins coming in Houston.
Despite not winning a game at Globe Life Field in the ALCS, the Rangers will gladly take home-field advantage in the World Series. The best-of-seven series for the championship begins with Games 1 and 2 in Arlington on Friday and Saturday.
How does it feel starting at home?
“Sounds great,” said Jordan Montgomery, who pitched in relief in Game 7. “Hopefully we play a little better at home than we did previously. I like how we’re paying right now.”
The Rangers won’t know their opponent until the Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks finish off the NLCS. Game 7 is Tuesday night in Philadelphia.
The middle three games of the World Series will be at the National League pennant winners. The final two games, if needed, will be back at Globe Life Park.
Texas is 8-0 on the road in the postseason – tying the 1996 New York Yankees for the best away winning streak to open the playoffs. Texas is 1-3 at home, with each loss coming to the Astros.
