Rangers Non-Tender Relief Pitcher for 2023

The little-used reliever was not tendered at Friday's deadline, leaving the Rangers with 39 on their 40-man roster.

The Texas Rangers made one move at the non-tender deadline on Friday, deciding not to tender a 2023 contract offer to pitcher Nick Snyder.

Snyder is now a free agent.

The Rangers tendered offers to the remaining players on their 40-man rosters that aren’t already under contract.

The Rangers had seven players under contract before the deadline — pitcher Jon Gray ($15 million), pitcher José Leclerc ($6 million), infielder/outfielder Brad Miller ($4 million), pitcher Jake Odorizzi ($2.5 million), pitcher Martín Pérez ($19.65 million), shortstop Corey Seager ($35 million), and second baseman Marcus Semien ($26 million).

Per Spotrac.com, the Rangers have $104 million committed to those seven players. Five more are coming up for arbitration — catcher Mitch Garver, first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, pitcher Taylor Hearn, pitcher Brett Martin and pitcher Jonathan Hernández. The rest of the team is under team control.

Snyder, 27, made two relief appearances for the Rangers in 2022 during two stretches with the team — from April 14-23 and from May 20-22. While at Triple-A Round Rock, Snyder averaged 12.1 strikeouts per nine innings in 41 appearances with the Express.
