Opening Day is right around the corner but there still are a surprising amount of top-tier free agents available.

One of the top offensive free agents in baseball this offseason certainly has been six-time All-Star J.D. Martinez. At the beginning of the offseason, it seemed like there was a chance he would return to the Los Angeles Dodgers but the door closed on that reunion right when they signed two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani.

Martinez has been looking for his next opportunity but somehow still is available despite clubbing 33 home runs and driving in 103 runs last season with Los Angeles and earning his sixth All-Star nod.

The former Boston Red Sox star likely will sign soon and one club that reportedly is pursuing him is the Los Angeles Angels, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

"Rumors were circulating after (Blake Snell) posted the famed eyeball emoji on his Instagram account that the Angels may be the ones making progress," Heyman said. "But all I could glean here is that the sides are talking. They are actually talking about both Snell and (designated hitter) J.D. Martinez both."

Martinez has been one of the best offensive players in baseball over the last 10 years and certainly can help out any club looking for a designated hitter. He spent five seasons with the Red Sox and earned four All-Star nods before joining the Dodgers ahead of the 2023 campaign.

Los Angeles certainly could use someone like Martinez after losing Ohtani this offseason and it wouldn't be too surprising to see the club get a deal done soon.
