The Boston Red Sox have been one of the most surprising teams in baseball so far this season.

Boston entered the 2023 campaign widely expected to finish in last place in the American League East and to potentially be worst than last season when it racked up a lackluster 78 wins. The Red Sox currently are in fourth place in the AL East with a 54-47 record and at this point are looking more and more like trade deadline buyers, as opposed to sellers. A few weeks ago that might not have been the case, but the Red Sox are just one-and-a-half games out of a Wild Card spot with under a week to go until the August 1 trade deadline.

One player who has found his name in trade rumors consistently this season is Red Sox outfielder Adam Duvall. While a move may be unlikely at this point, that doesn't mean other teams aren't interested. One team that reportedly is interested and could be a fit in a potential deal reportedly is the National League-leading Atlanta Braves, according to The Athletic's Jim Bowden.

"I think Duvall would be an excellent acquisition for the Braves because he would be the perfect platoon partner with (Eddie Rosario) in left field," Bowden said. "Braves fans remember Duvall winning a Gold Glove Award (in right field) with them just two years ago while hitting 38 home runs and leading the National League with 113 RBIs. However, I’m told the Braves are happy with (Kevin Pillar) in that role, and with the Red Sox just 1 1/2 games back in the wild-card race, they appear to want to hold on to Duvall at this point. I’m also told the Braves are not pursuing him. I love the idea though."

This isn't the first time Duvall has been linked to the Braves ahead of the trade deadline. The slugger has had two different stints with Atlanta and was an important part of the 2021 World Series-winning club. Although this is the case, Boston could end up keeping the slugger as it looks to make its way back to the postseason. There's just under a week remaining until the trade deadline so anything could happen, but a move may be unlikely.
