The Atlanta Braves recently added some depth.

Atlanta shined in 2022 and sat atop the National League East standings with a 101-61. Although the Braves weren't able to repeat as World Series champions, they were impressive and have been making moves this offseason. Atlanta lost shortstop Dansby Swanson but did trade for catcher Sean Murphy.

The Braves continued their busy offseason Wednesday as they reportedly signed former Boston Red Sox infielder Yolmer Sanchez to a minor league deal, according to the MiLB Transaction log.

Sanchez is an eight-year Major League Baseball veteran with a Gold Glove award under his belt but played just 14 games for the Red Sox in 2022 before being designated for assignment. The 30-year-old has played just 28 total games since the end of the 2019 campaign.

The infielder began his MLB career with the Chicago White Sox in 2014 and spent the first seven years of his career with the squad. Throughout his career with Chicago Sanchez slashed .245/.300/.360  and proved he could be an above-average defensive second baseman and took home the American League Gold Glove Award in 2019.

Sanchez likely will be just a depth option for the Braves if he even makes the squad, but he certainly is intriguing. Atlanta has Ozzie Albies and Vaughn Grissom as the team's starting second baseman and shortstop so Sanchez would pencil as a bench option if he makes the squad.

The 30-year-old may not have spent much time in Boston, but maybe he can stick on longer with the Braves.
