One former member of the Boston Red Sox reportedly has found himself a new home.

Former Red Sox slugger Hunter Renfroe was a free agent again and entered the offseason looking for his next opportunity. Unsurprisingly, a new chance reportedly has popped up and he signed a one-year deal with the Kansas City Royals, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

"Hunter Renfroe to Royals," Heyman said. "$13 million, 2 years. Can opt out (player option) after year one at $6.5M. Plus incentives."

Renfroe has been a journeyman in recent seasons and now will join his sixth team in the last four seasons dating back to 2020. The slugger was selected in the first round of the 2013 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft and eventually made his big league debut in 2016 with San Diego.

The 31-year-old spent the first four seasons of his big league career in San Diego before joining the Tampa Bay Rays ahead of the 2020 season. Since then, Renfore has spent time with the Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Angels, and Cincinnati Reds.

Renfroe had a solid season in 2023 and clubbed 20 home runs, drove in 60 runs, mashed 31 doubles, and slashed .233/.297/.416 in 140 games played with the Angels and Reds.

Kansas City surprisingly has been busy this offseason and has been spending. The Royals landed former New York Mets and San Diego Padres pitcher Seth Lugo recently and now have Renfroe under contract.

The Royals won just 56 games last season, but if they continue to add in free agency maybe we will see an uptick in victories next year.
