The Boston Red Sox have been extremely busy.

While the most notable moves the Red Sox have made this offseason are the ones that will be seen at the big league level in 2023, they have also added to their minor league depth in a major way.

Boston continued to add recently by signing hard-throwing left-handed pitcher Cam Booser to a minor league contract, according to the MiLB transaction log.

The 30-year-old is an intriguing option for Boston. Booser began his professional career in the Minnesota Twins organization with the club's Gulf Coast League squad in 2013. He worked his way up to Minnesota's High-A affiliate before briefly retiring in 2017.

Booser became a carpenter during his short retirement but decided to make a return to baseball and pitched for the Chicago Dogs in the Independent Baseball League in 2021 and then was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks ahead of the 2022 campaign. Booser compiled a 6.48 ERA in 19 appearances for the Double-A Amarillo Sod Poodles.

Although Booser's numbers don't jump off the page, what is most interesting about the 30-year-old is the fact that he is a left-handed hurler who has topped out at 100 miles per hour. He is a fireballer who certainly has a checkered past but plenty of upside. If the Red Sox were to help get his mechanics and control in place in the minors, he could eventually be helpful at the big league level.

Boston is thin in the left-handed pitcher market with just Chris Sale, James Paxton, Richard Bleier, and Joely Rodriguez on the big league roster. Booser likely won't make his Major League Baseball debut in 2023 as he will start with the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs, but he certainly is a name to watch out for.
