The Boston Red Sox's bullpen certainly is thin right now.

Over the last five games, the Red Sox have had their starting pitcher go at least five innings just twice so the bullpen has had to get plenty of work. Plus, the club's depth currently is being tested with Brennan Bernardino currently on the COVID-19-related injured list.

Boston's current bullpen depth issue was on full display in the club's Monday night loss against the Houston Astros. Chris Sale was unable to get out of the fifth inning and pitched just 4 2/3 innings. Kyle Barraclough -- who was called up from the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox -- took the ball in relief and pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed 10 earned runs on 11 base hits allowed to go along with five walks. Barraclough was forced to finish the contest due to the thinness of the Red Sox bullpen and threw 94 pitches in the loss.

The Red Sox reportedly made a move to add more bullpen Tuesday and are calling up lefty Joe Jacques from the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox, according to Beyond the Monster's Andrew Parker.

"Lefty Joe Jacques has been called up from Worcester by the Red Sox, source says," Parker said.

Jacques made his big league debut this season and has appeared in 17 games so far this campaign and has compiled a 5.85 ERA. The lefty has bounced around between the big leagues and minor leagues and has made 30 appearances with Worcester and has pitched to a 2.83 ERA so far this season.

Hopefully, Jacques can provide the Red Sox more depth in the bullpen as the club looks to get back on track.
