The Boston Red Sox bounced back in a major way Wednesday night as they took down the Houston Astros but things weren't all good for the club.

After dropping the first two games of a four-game set against the Houston Astros, Boston responded with an impressive 7-5 extra-inning win Thursday night. While the win certainly is positive, star closer Kenley Jansen was forced to leave the contest after just 1/3 of an inning of work. Jansen left the contest due to right hamstring tightness, but may not miss time, according to MassLive.com's Christopher Smith.

"The Red Sox announced Kenley Jansen left the game with right hamstring tightness," Smith said. "'Just tight,' manager Alex Cora said during his postgame press conference. 'We’ll see where we’re at tomorrow, how he feels. Hopefully, he’s ready for Friday.'”

If Jansen were to miss any time, it would be a serious blow to a much-improved Boston bullpen. The 35-year-old has been a marvel in the closer role for Boston this season. Jansen has compiled a 2.81 ERA and has completed 29 of his 31 save opportunities. In 2022, Boston had one of the worst bullpens in all of baseball. The Red Sox's bullpen has drastically improved this season and Jansen is one of, if not the biggest reason why.

It's positive that Cora mentioned Friday as a possibility for Jansen and hopefully, he will have another opportunity to pitch. The Red Sox currently are four games out of an American League Wild Card spot and will need to have all hands on deck if the club wants to make a run.
