Red Sox Reportedly Looking To Add Outfielder; Reunion Could Be Coming With Slugger
The Boston Red Sox may have another move or two up their sleeve before the 2024 campaign rolls around.
Boston has made a handful of moves already this offseason but still has some holes to fill. The biggest area of need certainly is the starting rotation but other spots on the roster could use an addition.
It's unclear exactly what the club will do with Spring Training just about here, but the club reportedly still is looking to land at least one outfielder, according to MassLive.com's Chris Cotillo.
"One industry source who has had recent contact with Red Sox said this morning they're actively trying to add an outfielder to the mix," Cotillo said. "Obviously, a right-handed bat makes most sense."
The Red Sox have been linked to a handful of players but have continued to miss out on free-agent targets. The latest free agent target that the Red Sox missed out on is All-Star slugger Jorge Soler.
Soler was mentioned as a target by the Red Sox on multiple occasions but reportedly signed with the San Francisco Giants to a three-year deal. Luckily for Boston, there still are some solid options out there that could help the club.
The easiest option would be to re-sign slugger Adam Duvall. He spent the 2023 campaign with the Red Sox and impressed although he dealt with multiple injuries. Another player out there who has been floated as an option for Boston at multiple points is Michael A. Taylor.
With Spring Training just about to kick off, don't be surprised if the Red Sox make a move very soon.
