Red Sox Slugger Makes History After Electric Start To 2023 Season
The Boston Red Sox haven't gotten off to the start they had hoped, but there still have been some bright spots.
Arguably the biggest bright spot for the club so far in the young season surprisingly has been new slugger Adam Duvall after a blistering start to his Boston career. The 34-year-old signed with Boston this past offseason as a free agent and has taken the team by storm.
Duvall has appeared in six games so far this season for Boston and is leading the club in pretty much all offensive categories. The slugger is leading the club with three home runs, 12 RBIs, 11 base hits, three doubles, one triple, and an eye-popping .458 batting average. The 34-year-old's 12 RBIs not only are good for the Red Sox team lead, but he also is leading all of baseball in the category.
The slugger has been so impressive this season that he also has done something never before done in Red Sox team history. Duvall became the first player in team history to drive in 12 runs in his first six games with the club, according to SoxNotes' J.P. Long.
Boston hasn't gotten off to the start it hoped for and is 3-4 through seven games, but things seem to be on the rise and Duvall is a big reason why. The Red Sox took down the Detroit Tigers in their series opener Thursday afternoon and will look to maintain the momentum Friday.
Duvall entered the 2023 campaign with lower expectations after missing much of the 2022 campaign due to injuries. He clearly is healthy now and has been tearing the cover off the ball for the Boston. Hopefully, he is able to keep it going and the Red Sox can turn things around in the near future.
