With the 2023 MLB Trade Deadline quickly approaching there's sure to be a wide range of rumors, both true and false.

The Boston Red Sox are sure to be busy as the club looks to make a run at a postseason spot and prepare for the 2024 campaign. Boston has been surprising this season and currently has won six straight games and sits at 39-35 heading into Wednesday night's series finale against the Minnesota Twins.

Boston has been in trade rumors seemingly all season and with the deadline coming up, they won't stop soon. There's no way for sure to know what the club will do, but if the Red Sox continue to play at a high level they likely won't be sellers ahead of the deadline. There's still plenty of baseball to be played ahead of the August 1 deadline so there's no way to truly predict who will be moved. One player who has drawn the interest of other teams is young Boston slugger, Triston Casas, according to The Athletic's Jim Bowden.

"The Red Sox have been disappointed with his defense and lack of consistency," Bowden said. "Boston still believes in Casas and he's only 23, but there are teams targeting him just in case the Red Sox are open to a prospect-for-prospect deal that works for both sides."

Casas more than likely isn't going anywhere. The young slugger was drafted in the first round of the 2018 MLB June Amateur Draft and has quickly made his way through the Boston farm system. Casas struggled out of the gate to begin the 2023 season but is a rookie and has started to turn things around. In June, Casas has slashed .267/.389/.467 to go along with two home runs and eight RBIs in 18 games so far. The young slugger won't become a free agent until 2029 so if Boston was to even consider a deal, it would have to be for a king's ransom.

If Boston ultimately does become sellers ahead of the trade deadline, the club likely will move veterans set for free agency this offseason. Casas likely isn't going anywhere but it is interesting to hear other teams are interested in him. Hopefully, the young slugger can continue to get his bat back on track this season and man first base for the Red Sox for years to come.
