Rumored Red Sox Target Reportedly 'Close To Making A Decision' In Free Agency
It sounds like one of the Boston Red Sox's rumored targets may be choosing his next club shortly.
The Red Sox are in an intriguing spot and have been linked to seemingly every pitcher available in free agency at this point. One player who has popped up on numerous occasions as an option for the Red Sox is Cuban right-hander Yariel Rodríguez.
Rodríguez is just 26 years old and has eight years of professional baseball experience under his belt. He most recently spent time with the Chunichi Dragons of Nippon Professional Baseball but didn't pitch in 2023. Rodríguez has a career 3.07 ERA across his eight years of work.
Boston has been linked to the Rodríguez on multiple occasions this offseason but it sounds like one of its biggest rivals may end up landing him. The Toronto Blue Jays reportedly are the favorites to land him at this point and he could make a decision shortly, according to ESPN's Enrique Rojas.

Boston certainly still could end up landing the 26-year-old, but it clearly will have competition for his services. The righty's role in Major League Baseball is unclear as some clubs view him as a reliever while others see him as a starter.
Although it's unclear what role he will play next year, it's clear that multiple teams are vying for his services and he could make a decision soon.
