Could Boston make a change at the top of their organization?

The Boston Red Sox are approaching a pivotal offseason where all of the rebuilding could pay off. With the luxury tax reset, the farm system rebuilt and the face of the franchise locked up for over a decade, the organization is set to strike.

In the coming days, Boston will have to decide whether or not chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom is the right man to lead the charge. According to many, he could be on the way out.

"Clarify Chaim Bloom’s status: There is widespread speculation within the industry that the Sox will move on from their chief baseball officer," The Boston Globe's Pete Abraham wrote Wednesday.

"Whatever happens the rest of the season shouldn’t change that decision," Abraham expanded. "At this point, either the Sox feel like Bloom deserves another chance to build a contending team or they don’t."

Bloom was put in a brutal position from the onset. His predecessor -- Dave Dombrowski -- failed to sign superstar outfielder Mookie Betts to a long-term extension. He did, however, sign some horrible contracts such as the extension for Chris Sale prior to exiting. Dombrowski also skimmed the farm system down to nothing in just a few years.

In just four seasons, Bloom has successfully stocked the farm system while maintaining some level of competitiveness -- though not enough for the Boston media/fanbase.

Bloom endured some rough times and deserves a shot with an enhanced budget this winter to combine his Tampa Bay Rays philosophies with Boston's resources.

It doesn't seem like he'll get said chance.

UPDATE: Chaim Bloom was fired mere minutes after this post was uploaded. My ability to get lunch was delayed hours by the timing of his firing, very rude.

Before starting "Inside The Red Sox", Neville attended Merrimack College, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Media with a minor in Marketing. Neville spent all four years with Merrimack's radio station WMCK, where he grew as a radio/podcast host and producer.  His propensity for being in front of a microphone eventually expanded to film, where he produced multiple short films alongside his then-roommate and current co-worker Stephen Mottram. On a journey that began as a way to receive easy credits via film classes, he received a call from "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" star Charlie Day. Day advised him to make a feature-length film, which he completed his senior year. While writing the film, Neville completed an internship for United Way as part of their NFL Partnership Program. Neville ran the blog for a team of interns and hosted an internet show called "United Way's NFL Partnership Series" where he interviewed NFL alumni. After college Neville wrote for SB Nation's "Over The Monster," a Red Sox sister site of the flagship brand. His work would eventually lead him to a job as a content producer with NESN, where he would cover all sports. After developing as a writer with the top regional network in the world, he was given the opportunity to join the Sports Illustrated Media Group in his current endeavor as the publisher of "Inside The Red Sox." The successful launch and quick rise of "Inside The Red Sox" led to Neville joining the Baseball Essential ownership group, a national baseball site under SIMG.
