This Impressive Stat Should Give Red Sox Nation Hope That Boston Could Snatch Playoff Spot
The Boston Red Sox have been surprising this season, to say the least.
Boston entered the 2023 season widely expected to finish in last place in the American League East and although the club currently is in last place, it has been better than expected. The Red Sox currently are 37-35 and have won each of their last four games, including an extremely impressive three-game sweep against the rival New York Yankees.
The Red Sox may not contend for a World Series title in 2023 without a major trade, but the club certainly has been impressive at times this year. Boston has been inconsistent, but at times has looked like a club that could nab a Wild Card spot in 2023. Boston currently is only two games behind the Houston Astros and Yankees for the final Wild Card spot in the American League.
One of the biggest reasons for Boston's recent success has been a turnaround in the club's starting rotation. Even without Chris Sale, Boston's rotation has started to take a turn in the right direction. The Red Sox's rotation has been so impressive in June that they actually are leading baseball with a 2.39 ERA since June 9.
Boston is in the middle of a youth movement and righty Brayan Bello has led the way for the Red Sox lately. Garrett Whitlock, Tanner Houck, and Kutter Crawford all also have been impressive and veteran James Paxton has held his own. If the Red Sox's starting rotation can keep up the current momentum and the club could make an addition or two, maybe we could see them in the postseason when the fall rolls around.
