Red Sox Speedster Makes History After Dynamic Start To 2024 Season
The Boston Red Sox have gotten off to a hot start to kick off the 2024 campaign.
Boston already is dealing with a handful of injuries, but the starting rotation has been exceptional and the club's offense has done its job for the most part. The Red Sox have won three of their first five games -- including the last two -- and seem to be in a solid spot.
Five games certainly is a small sample size, but there still have been some bright spots. One player who has been dynamic so far this season is young outfielder Jarren Duran. The 27-year-old even has made team history as he became the first Boston player to record five or more steals in the first five games of a season, according to the Boston Globe's Alex Speier.
"Duran steals second again: 5 games, 5 steals," Speier said. "First player in Red Sox history to do that. The list of players who'd stolen 4 through 5 games is great, including Jerry Remy in 1978 and Hall of Famers Tris Speaker (1915) and Harry Hooper (1920)."
The Red Sox have low expectations for the 2024 season, but they could end up surprising some people. Boston is loaded with intriguing, young talent and the starting rotation was impressive throughout the first round of appearances.
Boston may not have the big-name talent as other clubs -- like the Los Angeles Dodgers -- but it seems like the club is going to be aggressive on the base paths and grind until the last pitch is thrown each game.
Duran has been stellar to begin the season and if the club can continue to play like this, maybe they will surprise.
