The Boston Red Sox got some much-needed good news Sunday.

Boston star slugger Rafael Devers hasn't appeared in a game with the club since April 10 due to a nagging shoulder injury. There has been rumblings that the injury could lead the young slugger to miss a chunk of time with a possible Injured List stint.

While that was the case, it doesn't sound like it will be the case and he reportedly will return to the lineup on Monday, according to The Athletic's Jen McCaffrey.

"(Red Sox manager Alex Cora) says Devers should be back tomorrow as he’d planned," McCaffrey said. "Devers wanted to come back today but they’re giving it one more day so it doesn’t flare up. He is in the field now doing pre-game work with the rest of the infield."

Boston got back in the win column Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels but has had a roller-coaster start to the season. If the club were to lose Devers for any significant amount of time, they would be in a very tough situation.

The young third baseman is the Red Sox's most important offensive weapon and getting him back Monday surely will give the team a major boost. Devers has been dealing with a sore shoulder since Spring Training so the injury certainly is something to continue to keep an eye on but hopefully this will be the last we hear about it.

Boston has had an up-and-down season so far but the return of Devers is good news.
