In this story:

The Cincinnati Reds have had a disappointing 2024 season, but it’s not been without its impressive performances. Some have been far into the positive side of things, while others have been quite ugly.

The series loss to the Cardinals can be mostly blamed on bad clutch hitting. The Reds got runners on and over, they just couldn’t bring them in. This is a bit of a pattern that stretches back to the All-Star break.

Since the break, the Reds have a .231 batting average with runners in scoring position. That ranks 25th in MLB. It’s also .21 lower than their season average.

The Reds are actually middle of the road with runners in scoring position for the entire year. Seeing that fall behind has really put a dampener on hopes of avoiding a losing season.
