Reds Manager David Bell Shares Tentative Timeline for Matt McLain's Return

CINCINNATI — Reds infielder Matt McLain is still recovering from shoulder surgery, but there's optimism that he could return in August, manager David Bell revealed on Tuesday.
McLain was injured in spring training. He's one of the young, promising stars on the roster.
The 24-year-old posted a .290/.357/.507 slash line in 89 games last season, finishing with 16 home runs and 50 RBI.
It would be great if McLain could return for a stretch run. Expect him to start at second base if he does return this season.
David Bell said TJ Friedl has a check in/MRI this week. It’s also realistic that Matt McLain could return in August.
