CINCINNATI — The Reds are re-signing veteran Mike Ford to a minor-league deal according to Jon Heyman.

Ford spent spring training with the Reds, finishing with 15 hits. He posted a .455 batting average and three home runs. The veteran hit 16 home runs and had 34 RBI in 83 games for the Mariners last season, mostly serving as their designated hitter.

He gives the Reds another proven power bat. Plenty of people thought he would make the club after his performance in spring training. Instead, he re-joins the club on a minor league deal. It gives the Reds another proven veteran they can lean on if needed this season. He also has experience at first base. Check out all of his stats here.
