Arizona Fall League Update: Connor Phillips Struggles, Edwin Arroyo Stays Hot

Phillips struggled in his first start since being named AFL Pitcher of the Week.

It was a mixed bag of performances for Reds players playing in the Arizona Fall League on Wednesday.

After being named Arizona Fall League Pitcher of the Week earlier in the day, Connor Phillips struggled in his start, allowing seven earned runs on six hits in just 2 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out three.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand played right field and went 0-2 with two walks and two runs scored.

Edwin Arroyo played shortstop and went 2-5 with a run scored and a stolen base. Arroyo's hits were 103.3 mph and 107.9 mph off the bat. He is hitting .353 with an OPS of .860 so far in the fall.

Tyler Callihan played left field and went 1-4 with two walks, a run scored, and a stolen base.

The Desert Dogs fell 13-11 and dropped to 5-3 on the season.
