Chicago Cubs Make Deadline Trade With New York Yankees Ahead of Showdown With Cincinnati Reds

CINCINNATI — The Cubs are trading right-handed reliever Mark Leiter Jr. to the Yankees in exchange for infielder Ben Cowles and right-handed reliever Jack Neely. ESPN's Jeff Passan was the first to report the news.

The Reds play the Cubs in game two of their three-game series on Tuesday night at 7:10 p.m. ET at Great American Ballpark.

Cincinnati won game one and is hoping to make it two in a row over their division rival. The Reds traded Frankie Montas on Monday and could make another deal ahead of the 6 p.m. deadline on Tuesday night.
