Look: Cincinnati Reds React to Tragic Passing of Columbus Blue Jackets Star Johnny Gaudreau
CINCINNATI — The Reds released a statement on Friday afternoon following the death of Columbus Blue Jackets star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew.
"We are heartbroken for our friends at the Blue Jackets with the tragic passing of Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew," the Reds said in a statement. "We send our deepest condolences to the Gaudreau family, their friends, the NHL and the entire Columbus Blue Jackets organization."
Gaudreau, 31, and his 29-year-old brother Matthew were riding bicycles when they were hit by a man driving a Jeep in Salem County, New Jersey.
"The Columbus Blue Jackets are shocked and devastated by this unimaginable tragedy," the Blue Jackets said in a statement on Friday morning. "Johnny was not only a great hockey player, but more significantly a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his wife, Meredith, his children, Noa and Johnny, his parents, their family and friends on the sudden loss of Johnny and Matthew."
