Matt McLain Still Battling Rib Injury, Won't Start Rehab Assignment
CINCINNATI — Reds infielder Matt McLain won't start his scheduled rehab assignment this week.
He suffered a stress reaction in his rib cage and remains limited according to manager David Bell.
The second baseman has been on the injured list since undergoing left shoulder surgery in spring training. The Reds were hoping he'd be able to start a Minor League rehab assignment on August 12.
Instead, that rehab assignment will be delayed. It's unclear if McLain will play for the Reds this season.
