CINCINNATI — Will the Reds be buyers at the trade deadline?

USA Today's Bob Nightengale believes the Reds are "poised to buy" ahead of Tuesday's deadline.

"They are 50-53, just 4 ½ games out of a wild-card berth, and are trying to decide whether they’re a legitimate contender or not," Nightengale wrote on Sunday morning. They are poised to buy, but are certainly built to sell with Jonathan India and Frankie Montas. Their ultimate fate may not be decided until Tuesday morning."

There's certainly a world where the Reds move India or Montas, but also add a long-term piece that could help them for the remainder of the season.

It's much easier said than done, but it's possible. Check out Nightengale's entire breakdown here.

The trade deadline is Tuesday, July 30 at 6 p.m. ET.
