CINCINNATI — The Mike Ford era has come to an end. The Reds outrighted the veteran to Triple-A Louisville, but he has decided to become a free agent instead, the team announced on Friday.

The veteran posted a .150 batting average with one home run and four RBI in 17 big league games this season.

Ford was released when TJ Friedl was activated from the injured list earlier this week. The Reds are hoping Friedl can give their offense a boost for the remainder of the season.
