The Reds bounced back on Wednesday, beating the Phillies 4-1 to win the series. Cincinnati never trailed in the matchup in a game that started nearly four hours late due to rain.

Frankie Montas got the start for the Reds and was excellent, although he only pitched 5 2/3 innings. He gave up one run and five hits. He also finished with five strikeouts.

A double from Christian Encarnacion-Strand scored both Nick Martini and Jonathan India in the third inning. Encarnacion-Strand is settling into the season and has played well in recent weeks.

Elly De La Cruz had an RBI double that scored Jake Fraley in the sixth inning. De La Cruz has a hit in each of the Reds first six games.

Spencer Steer hit a triple and scored on a single by Nick Martini in the eighth to give Alexis Diaz an insurance run to work with. The Reds closer struck out the first two batters he faced, gave up a single to Whit Merrifield and then got Alec Bohm to fly out to end the game.

The Reds never trailed on Wednesday night. They improve to 4-2 on the season.
