Cincinnati Reds Fall to New York Mets 3-2 on Friday Night

The Cincinnati Reds lost to the New York Mets 3-2 on Friday night. They fall to 4-3 on the season.

Hunter Greene got the start for Cincinnati, giving up one run in six innings. He finished with six strikeouts, gave up one hit and one walk.

Spencer Steer hit a home run to left field in the first inning to give Cincinnati a 1-0 lead.

The Mets got on the board in the fifth when Francisco Lindor hit a sacrifice fly. The Mets took their first lead in the seventh on a ground ball to Elly De La Cruz. The Reds star had an inadvertent throw to first base and New York took a 2-1 lead.

Jeff McNeil homered in the eighth to tack on an insurance run for New York.

That run made all the difference, as the Reds rallied in the ninth. Jonathan India reached on an error, Steer walked and Jeimer Candelario hit a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 3-2.

Jake Fraley struck out swinging to end the game with the tying run on third.

Other Notes

De La Cruz finished 1-for-4 with a double. He has a hit in all seven games this season.
