Swept in Seattle: Cincinnati Reds Fall to Mariners 5-1
The Reds lost to the Mariners 5-1 on Wednesday afternoon. They went to Seattle on a three game winning streak. The tide turned in the Northwest, as Cincinnati's offense came to a screeching halt and the Mariners completed a three-game sweep.
Andrew Abbott pitched six innings and gave up two runs on four hits and three walks. He also had six strikeouts on the day.
The Reds lone score came from an Elly De La Cruz home run. He's the first player in the big leagues to hit five home runs and have five stolen bases this season. t
A home run from Cal Raleigh got the Mariners on the board before they swiftly ran away with the game following home runs from Mitch Garver and Josh Rojas.
The Reds fall to 9-9 on the season. They went 3-3 on their six-game road trip. They're off on Thursday and will play the Angels on Friday night at 6:40 p.m. ET at Great American Ballpark.
