Top Performers From Cincinnati Reds 8-2 Opening Day Win Over Washington Nationals
The Reds started their season off strong on Thursday with an 8-2 win over the Washington Nationals.
Here are our top performers from the Opening Day victory:
Nick Martini
Martini had a legendary Opening Day. He hit two home runs and finished with five RBI. Some didn’t expect Martini to be a starter on Thursday, but manager David Bell made the right decision.
Watch both of Martini's home runs here.
Frankie Montas
The Reds couldn’t have asked for more out Montas on Thursday. He pitched six scoreless innings, giving up just four hits. He didn't issue a walk and only threw 81 pitches. It was a great Reds debut for Montas, especially considering his injury history.
Jake Fraley
Fraley was excellent at the plate and in the field. He started the game off hot as he gunned down a base runner at second from right field. At the plate, he hit both a double and a single with two runs and a stolen base on the day.
Brent Suter
The homegrown talent was phenomenal in his two innings of work, finishing with four strikeouts. He was perfect in the eighth and ninth innings, striking out the side in the eighth and tossing a 1-2-3 ninth to secure the win.
Spencer Steer
Steer reached base three times on Thursday. He hit a single, a double and had one RBI.
Elly De La Cruz
It wasn't the flashiest day but he finished 1-for-3 with a walk and scored twice. He also stole third base and showed more patience at the plate.
