Report: 18-year-old Cuban standout inks deal with Twins
A name for Minnesota Twins fans to monitor over the years to come is Yandro Hernandez, the 18-year-old from Cuba who has reportedly signed with Minnesota.
According to MLB reporter and published author Francys Romero, the Twins and Hernández are in agreement on a contract that includes an $800,000 bonus.
"The deal will be official when he receives free agency in a few days. I ranked him as the best hitter for average in the U-18 class 2023 in Cuba," Romero said, noting that Hernandez has "advanced hitting skills" and his father played for the Cuban national team.
"His father, OF/1B Stayler Hernández, was a member of the Cuban National team in 2015," Romero said.
In January, Romero reported that Hernández is a switch-hitting outfielder who "projects power and batting average."
