Reports: Twins avoid arbitration with Caleb Thielbar, Ryan Jeffers
The Twins avoided arbitration with reliever Caleb Thielbar and catcher Ryan Jeffers on Thursday, the deadline for MLB arbitration agreements, according to multiple reports.
ESPN baseball insider Kiley McDaniel reported that the Twins and Thielbar agreed to a one-year, $3.225 million contract. It was the third and final time Thielbar was arbitration eligible.
The Northfield, Minn., native missed some time in 2023 due to injury, but was effective when on the mound, pitching 30 2/3 innings and recording 36 strikeouts and just six walks. He allowed 12 runs — 11 earned — on 23 hits and finished the season with a 3.23 earned-run average.
Jeffers and the Twins agreed to a one-year, $2.425 million deal, according to KSTP’s Darren Wolfson. It was the first time Jeffers was arbitration eligible.
Jeffers hit .276 in 2023, recording 79 hits, 43 RBIs and 14 home runs.
