Carlos Correa was replaced by Willi Castro at shortstop during the third inning of Friday night’s game at the Detroit Tigers after striking out in the top of the inning. He appeared to be grabbing at his side after the at-bat, and the Twins later announced he has a right oblique strain.

It wasn't immediately clear the severity of the injury, but if it results in a stay on the injured list, that'd be significant for a Twins team already down one of its best hitters in Royce Lewis, who is currently on the injured list due to a quad strain.

Correa has been one of the Twins’ most consistent hitters. He has a .324 batting average this season with 11 hits, four RBIs and a home run.

This is a developing story. More information will be added as it becomes available.
