On May 12th, 1970, Cubs legend Ernie Banks hit his 500th career home run.
On May 12th, 1970, Cubs legend Ernie Banks hit his 500th career home run. The blast traveled over Wrigley Field's left-field wall, in a day game against the Atlanta Braves. At the time, Banks became just the 9th player in MLB history to join the 500-home run club.
