MLB Still to Finalize Schedule, But Reigning Champ Nats to Host Yankees in Opener

The Nationals will host the Yankees to open the 60 game MLB season

As Major League Baseball moves forward with it's plans for a 60-game season, the reigning World Series Champions have their Opening Day matchup set.

The Washington Nationals will reportedly begin their title defense with an opening day game against the New York Yankees at Nationals Park. This could also serve as Gerrit Cole's debut in pinstripes, as Cole and the Yankees agreed to a record nine-year, $324 million contract this past winter.

An official schedule hasn't been released, but if the MLBPA approves the details Tuesday as expected, the abridged season will begin July 23 or 24 and conclude September 27. Teams will play their four divisional opponents 10 times and the other 20 games against inter-league opponents in the same geographical area.
